About Joining LSRC

Can I join when the season is already underway?
You can join at any time of the year. There is no prorating of membership fees - the full amount is due regardless of when you join. Membership runs from May 1st of one year to May 1st of the following year.
Do you have family memberships?
Yes, a family membership is $175 annually which covers all members of the family. Please note that forms need to be filled out for each participating family member.
What if I want to row but also want to try coxing?
We are always looking for coxswains. Most programs require rowers to rotate as coxswains. You can give it a try (no obligation) and see if you like it. Note that there is no program cost for coxswains, although you will still be required to pay the annual membership fee.

About Programs

What is the deadline for signing up?
Sign ups can occur anytime after program announcement up until the time the program is full. Most programs are for one eight. If you don't get into the full program, you can always row as a substitute when someone is unable to make it.
What if I try it and don't like it?
If you have not rowed before and just want to see what it is like, we suggest you take one of our Rowdeo sessions. The only commitment is early one weekend morning (either Sat or Sun). If you like it, you can enroll in a Learn To Row program.
Do you have email notifications of upcoming programs?
Once you sign up for any program, you will be added to our email list. If you haven't participated in a program yet, just let us know you want to be added to the email list.
What if I can't commit to every day that the program is in session?
You could consider sharing a seat with another member rowing part-time. For example, if a program runs Mon,Wed,Fri but you are only able to row on Mon & Wed, you could share a seat with another person that is able to row on Fri. Please note that you will be sharing the same seat, so both people will row in the same seat location in the boat.
I only want to row occasionally. Can I do that?
If you are unable to commit to a full session of rowing, you can participate as a substitute at a daily rate (rate has not yet been set for 2012). When someone who is in the program is not able to attend a particular day, you may be asked to fill-in. Please note that you will be a replacement for the person in that seat, so if that person rows in 6-seat, so will you.

What else do I need to know?

What time do you row?
Times vary with the season, but are always early in the morning. Summer rowing begins by meeting at 5:45am. We are typically off the water at 8am. In the fall, sessions begin later because sunrise is later.
Where are you located?
In 2012 our programs will again be based in Georges Mills.
What should I wear?
Snug fitting shorts and shirts are best. Loose fitting clothing could get caught in the seat tracks. Wear layers as it can be quite cool or windy on the water. Hat or sunglasses are also a good idea. We walk the shells into the water, so water shoes are recommended. Also bring dry socks and a water bottle - you will need both with you in the boat.
What if it rains?
We row rain or shine, so dress appropriately. The only reason we would not go out to row is presence of thunder/lightning, high winds, or heavy fog.
