About LSRC and its History

Founded in 2007, Lake Sunapee Rowing Club (LSRC) is dedicated to providing rowing opportunities to individuals of all ages, abilities, and experience within the communities surrounding Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire.

The sport of rowing is a non-impact activity that involves all of the major muscle groups and can be enjoyed life-long. Rowing provides physical fitness, enhances skills in teamwork and leadership, requires and improves mental discipline, and crew members enjoy great camaraderie.

Since 2008, several hundred people have participated in rowing in the Lake Sunapee area thanks to LSRC programs. In addition to Masters and Juniors programs, LSRC offers adaptive rowing opportunities each summer as well.

In 2010 the club purchased a quad which is a boat for four scullers (rowers using two oars each.) Lake Sunapee Bank sponsored the club by paying for the purchase of four sets of sculling oars and for the painting of the quad.

Along with the quad, the LSRC fleet includes a number of beginner and advanced singles and doubles which are available for sculling lessons or daily use.

The club has entered area regattas, including the New Hampshire Championships, and the Methuen City Sprints Regatta. Adaptive rowers have also participated in the Bayada Regatta in Philadelphia.

LSRC is led by an active eight-member volunteer Board of Directors.  Current membership consists of approximately 75 members ranging in age from 14 to 70+

Annual Gala Fundraiser

The club’s major annual fundraiser, the Lake Sunapee Rowing Club Annual Gala and Silent Auction is held in November each year. An end-of-season celebration, all participants, their families and our numerous community supporters are invited to attend. The silent auction offers a marvelous variety of items and services donated by local merchants, members, and friends of the club. This annual fundraiser supports our scholarship fund and equipment upgrades.
